Thanks for the response! :) I just went to buy a small pack to try how it looks for my tote bag.

Ooops, can't spell/type after midnight. The first word should be 'Try' not 'Tru'.

I better go to bed before I make any more mistakes.

Tru out various types of batting so that you can find out which ones you like best for what kind of project. We are all different, and the wadding I adore may be the one that you would never use.

When I started quilting I bought small pieces of various types of wadding and made a set of table mats (same pattern, same quilting - machine and hand -, just different waddings). It was very interesting to see how different they looked. I then used the mats every day and they got washed a lot. Again, washing made them look (and behave) differently. I learned a lot from those table mats, and still have them today.

Thanks! I am sure that will give some "support" to the tote!

Quilting the fabric before you assemble the tote and then use a heavy iron-on interfacing to give the tote and handles body. The heavy interfacing is a must and really gives the bag a professional look. Hope this helps. Jan

Any Recommendation for Batting? 20 Jul 2008 21:17 #22515

Hello everyone, I am working on a quilted tote bag. I use the batting I got from local quilt shop....however, it seems that it is too thin. I am handquilting on it...the result isn't too obvious....it looks like I didn't quilt at all! :(

Should I use thicker batting for bags? Any recommendations?
