Thanks for the replies. Has anyone ever heard how much is charged for quilting, say, a 500-yard spool? I know it should be "priceless", but kids today don't understand the value of the time spent on them. I'm 66 and I guess I didn't appreciate what my maw-maw did for me. I do now! And I cherish the ones I have that she gave me.

I think Amish quilters in our area have charged by the spool. I have no idea what they charge.

I agree completely with Lois. And by the amount of thread used is a very fair way to charge, I think.

I don't know but I think it should be a lot. If you charge too little you diminish the value of our craft/art.

I know a hand quilter who charge by the amount of thread used. So much per foot of thread.

I personally hand quilt my grandchildren's high school graduation quilts. I'm curious how and what a person would charge for hand quilting, by the thread yard, or by the hour or by the queen-sized quilt. I quilt in fits and spurts so by the hour is hard to determine.
