TOPIC: how much shrinkage in quilting

Did I read or hear it could be upto 3 inches on a king size quilt, or did I imagine that??

I think the percentage of shrinkage (in hand quilting) will be different for everyone depending on the tension used when pulling the thread through each stitch. With machine quilting, I would assume the same unless quiting with the Bernina Stitch Regulator.

Can anyone tell me approximately how much a quilt top will shrink during the quilt process? I know it will depend on the amount of density to the quilting,but how about the amount recommended for the BOM?
