TOPIC: Crosshatch Grid

16 Dec 2008 08:08 #29710

Thanks to everyone for your input. I'll probably try a practice piece to see how well I can free motion those lines :) It certainly seems like it would be easier, in some ways, to freemotion all of it... but... I'll I have to see if I can keep them straight! If not then, I'll use the walking foot.

Again, thanks!

Me too! Me too! Feathers first then the grid, free motion both. This way you can stitch that grid right up to the feathers.

I agree. The feathers first. I think I'd use my walking foot for the grids, though. But then, I'd probably hand quilt it, too! I'm not any expert quilting by machine!

If it were me, I would stitch the feathers first, then the grid. I would also free motion stitch both. I'd free motion stitch the grid just so that I didn't have to turn the quilt all the time! Terry

Crosshatch Grid 15 Dec 2008 20:51 #29690

I need some pointers on stitching quilt design and hope that some of you experienced quilters can give me some pointers and/or direct me to some resources. I want to stitch a design that incorporates both a feather wreath and crosshatch grid. Which should i stitch first the feathers or the grid or does it matter? Does one use a free motion foot or a walking foot to stitch the grid?

thanks in advance for any information
