TOPIC: Can you applique after spray basting?

Hi Pam. Yes, I did spray the batting - not the fabric and did not have to respray when I put the quilt top back on. I tested it out first and everything worked fine. Thanks to you both.

If you applied the spray to the batting, you do not need to spray again. Just press together with iron.

Well, duh! Why didn't I think of testing it with scraps myself? Thanks, Margo - will do!

I've never used spray basting, but I think it might be smart to make a small sample and spray it like you did your quilt then try taking it apart and working with the sprayed fabric to see how it behaves. :?:

Can you applique after spray basting? 20 Oct 2012 14:09 #90438

Hi All! AFTER using spray basting to baste my quilt, I decided to add appliques to the borders. I'm wondering if I remove the quilt top and (iron) fuse the appliques on it, will I have any problems with the underside of the top when I spray baste it again. Wondering if the heat from the iron will negatively affect the wrong side of the quilt top. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
