You can reattach the glue by using a bit of basting spray.

Seperating adhesive from Steam a seam lt 02 Jan 2010 17:22 #41760

I wonder if anyone can tell me what to do when the adhesive comes away from the paper on Steam a Seam and is there any way to fix it.

I had this problem awhile ago, and it could be one of many problems.
bad batch from manufacturer,

old stock, make sure you store your fusibles in zip loc bags to prevent drying out or too much moisture.

Then there is following directions. Too hot of an iron, and or pressing too long. You really have to pay attention to the heat and pressing time. Not all irons are created equal.

This last was my problem. I adjusted and it worked fine.

Hope this helps you out. Cheryl

NO I am having the same problem with STEAM A SEAM LIGHT I just bought last week. I am going back to using wonder under.... if there is no way to use the old stuff you can salvage your applique by using a second sheet ... hopefully it will adhere.... be sure to use your Teflon applique sheets or parchment paper to protect your work surfaces and iron.

BE SURE TO COMPLAIN TO THE MANUFACTURE... they might send you coupons or some new steam a seam for free. Give them the details of your problem with their products. That may save some poor quilter in the future from having the same problem we are. I always complain to the manufactures when I am unhappy with their products.

No suggestions, just that I have come across the same thing with some old Steam-a-Seam I had, I think the product must degrade over time.

Steam a seam lite problems 20 Feb 2009 23:20 #32640

I have a bunch of steam a seam 2 lite left over from when I had a quilt shop. It's a few years old, and when I try to use it, the product sticks to the paper and when I try to peel it off it just breaks, some of it coming off, and some sticking to the paper. It's as if it was made with a very poor mesh that breaks when you apply any pull at all.
I've tried sticking it to the fabric before taking the second side of the paper off, but then the paper sticks to the fabric too. It's unusable.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Rebecca
