TOPIC: link for tutorial on back basting.. pretty good

this is the site I learned from... just this year on the BOM, and I am a CONVERT! I'd add this to the list of advantages she's got: VERY little prep-work, the entire thing is portable. I have made my bias strips and circles at home using the iron, everything else I have simply stuck the fabric choices in my trusty zip-lock bag & off I go! All of the cutting can take place wherever I am. It's also going to be how I use up several inherited spools of carpet thread-- very heavy stuff, leaves nice "guide holes" in both the applique piece and the background. I reuse the threads until they just are too beat up or too short (or I lose them in the car, etc. ) (oh, instead of clipping the threads as I go, I pull them out most of the time... then again, I haven't done anything as elaborate as that feather she demonstrates on!!)
I'm swearing by it (also found a great Clover white marking pen for my dark fabric, YEA :!: )

I love this site and have been using it as a tutorial... I have done a lot of applique using the methods.

I love this method. It takes a little getting use to but belive me once you understand and try it I think you will like it. We are a whole group of appliquers in Clearwater Fl and this is the way most of us do our projects.

Thanks so much for the link. I've heard a lot about this method but have never given it a try.
