Love your room Kathy, hope your son doesn't fall out of bed
love you keeping a couple of shelves as reminder, I think he'll have got the message about whose room it is

My spare bed is a divan so lots of storage under for his junk and my batting but the trays for fabric are great. I think I'll have to have a sort out. ES moved out quite a few years ago so it's time for his stuff to go in the loft.

Another lot of bins and shelves I'd love a rummage in. We'll drop into you as well on our room raiding road trip :)

Nice sewing/working space Kathy! The risers are a great idea, also like the white flannel over the closet door.

Ritzy, your inspiration wall makes me want to get all my orphan blocks out of the bins and hang them up. But how do you sew on the sewing machine with a table up against the front of it?

Annis, that is actually the back of the machine against the table:

Here are the post organization photos of my son's sewing room. The bed is on risers and a table is on top making a good counter height to iron and cut fabric. Wad of fabric in corner waiting to be ironed and put away. I washed my entire stash and just folded most of it without ironing, but this fabric came out very wrinkled (Kaffe Fasset's shot cotton, very pretty colors).

My son is 6ft. 3in., so he shouldn't have a problem with the bed height when he visits. One of the risers has a built in electrical outlet so I can plug in the iron. There is an extension from the riser to the wall outlet behind the bed. Fabric storage under bed (I pulled it out so you could see some). Sewing machine cabinet has lots of storage and can be closed when not in use.

On the opposite wall is the desk and bookcases. Two shelves remain as reminder of son, the shelf under those have two bins for magazines, books and patterns. Bookcase on the other side has plastic bins for more fabric storage. Couldn't use the closet, because it is stuffed with son's stuff. I imagine when he gets a permanent station, he will take most of it (a lot of camping and backpacking gear). Hung a length of white flannel over closet as a design wall.

Thanks Charae, Wendy, Loise, Renata and Lorna!
The space is small but fun to work in. The wavy
dresser is a Birdseye Maple from the 1920's.

I will show some areas of my space. Most of it is too much of a mess to show anyone. :( :( :( :( But, that is one of my resolutions so hopefully as soon as it is warm enough to getting some painting done things will look different.
Here is a picture of my sewing area

Here is my bookcase with cutting table in front and ironing surface to the right.

These are some of my fabric storage cabinets. They were salvaged when the hospital remodeled. They were the patient closets. My son put in shelves and I bought the storage bins. Works great and the fabric is protected from the light. Smaller scraps are stored by color in plastic shoe boxes.

Barb, nice space. Is the dresser with the wavy drawers from the 1940's?
