TOPIC: Mug Rug Exchange - Do it yourself style!

Re: Mug Rug Exchange - Do it yourself style! 11 Apr 2013 16:51 #101267

Glad you like the mug rug Connie. :D It is the second in a series of fish mug rugs. 8) I am afraid it is too late for me to put fast finish triangles on most of my mug rugs because I only have 3 left to finish and post. I will put them on the last 3. :D

Terrie I just had a look at my growth chart for my son who is now 14 and over 6ft tall. In 2003 he was 4' 1" tall - he was born in 1998 so that makes him 5 years old at that stage. I reckon your grandson is just going to be a tall fella. My children were always the tallest in their classes in school up until they were 12 years old. Then the girls stopped growing and neither of them is as tall as me (I am 5' 7") but my son is still stretching. I feel sorry for your grandson having growing pains and a strep throat, I hope he feels better soon.

Rosemary, good idea about the fast-finish triangles! I'll add them to my next creation, since they won't interfere with horizontal or vertical mug rug usage :D

On my mind - my 4-year old grandson can't walk (for three days)due to pain in his legs, which seem to be 'growing pains' -(He also has strep throat again.) He has grown 1 1/2 inches in 3 months! He is off the charts - almost 4 feet tall, and only 4 years old. Has anyone ever heard of this? Doctor doesn' seem to concerned. :|

Terri, hope your grandson gets better quick. I have a 4 year old grand son also. (turned 4 4/18). He is a tiny thing. At the bottom of the charts. It looks like your little one is going to be really tall. He is probably just going through a growth spurt. Saying a little prayer for the little guy.

Terrie, it is obvious that your grandson hasn't read the book on how to grow the 'average method' as authorised but the 'experts', but is doing his own thing - and isn't it a relief that spring is nearly here and he can start wearing shorts rather than trousers - because lets face it, it sounds like he is achieving that all by himself  I hope he is feeling better soon, and good luck with the 3 days bed rest - that could be hard work on everyone around, if he is a get up and go sort of character.

PS I think that you should stop putting the fertlizer in his shoes for a few months

It might have something to do with the fact that they don't have anthing urgent to work on at the moment  I've got my first one started, but must crack on with a few more bits & bobs for my thimble class in a couple of weeks....

I've been wondering should we be including fast finish triangles on the back of these mug rugs, since it seems that most of them are going to end up on the wall rather than under mugs?

My turn! My turn! In today's mail there was a PACKAGE FROM IRELAND!!! I am now the proud owner of a "Rita Original"' and for sure it will be the start of my TQS mug rug gallery! No food or beverage will ever touch it ! :) I love my fish and shamrock! Beautiful design, beautiful appliqué, beautiful quilting! And to top it all off, she even put a bird (kestrel) postage stamp on the package! (Bird watchers like me really get off on that sort of thing. :D )

Lotti, the mug rug sent to you by Rita is so awesome that I predict that it will NEVER be touched by a "cup" or a "cake"!
Am I right? :D :D :D

It's so much fun to see these mug rugs. Well done, Rita. And your fabric is beautiful, too.
Lotti, take care of your knee when you do the happy dancing :D

I have spent the last two days dyeing fabrics. A friend asked me to make place mats for her mother, so I dyed for that. Besides my stash is getting short of my own hand dyed fabrics and they are what I prefer to work with now.

So glad you like it Lotti. If I had known you were going to show the back I would have made it neater! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come. :D

Susan, I found these two links on youtube which both show how to wind a shuttle bobbin. Hope they help.
