I was just doing my laundry the other day, and 'pop'! came an inspiration. The thing with my quilty inspirations, is that I find out that usually someone has already thought of that...maybe 100 or 50 years ago.

As I was folding HD's plaid boxer shorts ( already too much information  ) I thought that this soft 100% cotton would be a great addition if you wanted a plaid in your quilt. Now, I have been saving shirts, in the hope that one day I would make a log cabin with the men's shirts, but how neat would it be if the other side was what in used for the 'other' side of what men wear? Almost a complete wardrobe in a quilt!
Has anyone done this?

Vicki, I'm glad you like the fabric on the back. It's a 'rescue' one. I was at a workshop last year and somebody with more money than sense was going to toss it in the bin. I 'adopted' the piece and was very pleased when I found a home for it. :)

The unique fabric is the dark blue one on the front because I marbled that myself. Not sure what my grandmother would have said if she found out that I cut up one of her tablecloths for the marbling session. But I know she would very much approve of any needlework I do because she taught me. :)
Lorchen, yes the fabric on the back is a great find. Their loss my gain. As for your stiching, it is beautiful. I do not do much by hand my embroidery is by machine. And, the blue fabric on the front. I think your grandmother would be very proud of they way you showcased her tablecloth. It gives me ideas for all the old linen I have and don't know what to do with it. Thank you for letting me keep the second muggie!

I was the lucky recipient of 2 beautiful muggies last week. Sorry I did not get to post them until now.
Thank you Ritzy and Lorchen. Both are just beautiful. I was the fortunate one to get a second mug rug from Lorchen. :D

I love fuchsias too. I have around 10 just outside my bathroom window. I enjoy looking at them. They have flowers in different sizes which makes it interesting, at least in my opinion :D

I am so glad you like your mug rug Norma. :D I found him in the Book of Kells and thought he would look good on a mug rug. The card was inspired by the fuchsia which is in bloom all along the hedgerows here along with the montbretia - so beautiful. My internet is so poor where I have been all this week that I have hardly been able to access the forum at all so I have not had a chance to look at your tutorial but I will next week.

Marilyn, what beautiful stars you got from Lorchen, and goodies too!

Wendy, that's a fabulous mug rug you made for Susan.

I agree Lottie. Everyone is excelling their selves. Terrific mug rugs from Wendy to Susan, Rita to Norma and Lorchen to Marilyn.

After the great tutorial from Norma, maybe Rita would like to give us one on how she uses the pens and her straight stitching?

Marilyn, you definitely deserve a star or two. I have an almost orphaned wonky one that needs a home and could be used as a mug rug. How about it? If you want to give the little guy a loving home you'll have to email me your address. :)

Remember this? Well, here is my latest mug rug , rather, Rugs !
A pair of wonky stars along with a great tote and a guild pin and a card with Lorchens'
lovely works of quilting art !! Love 'em !! Thanks so much !!
