and whilst I had the camera out I also photographed the stitch sampler piece that I edged with some bias tape after putting it through a rufflette foot that came with my Gran's Singer

Rosemary, I was going to say the same thing. I didn't know how she applied the binding but I was nearly certain it was on the bias and not the straight of grain. Keep right on being pedantic. I like it!

It's a cotton ribbon I get from 'images of Egypt' at the shows. I guess you could make it yourself by tearing thin strips.

I trim the mug rug and zigzag the edge then just zigzag the edging on as it comes rather than straightening it out. Rosemary has used it with a ruffling foot I would like to see that effect :D
I'm sure we discussed this at Harrogate  , but the 'cotton ribbon' is actually a soft muslin in bias cut strips (I've got some at home, in a safe place  ) - not straight grain, so you wouldn't be able to tear yourself strips at all!

The recent mug rugs are all so beautiful. I am awed by the endless imagination and talent of all the ladies in this group.

I've been out-of-pocket for quite a while and just saw all the beautiful mug rugs on this page--I'm sure if I go back a few pages there are more I missed. So I know what I'll be looking at today on the Forum! :D I can't get over all the imagination and love in these little jewels! :D

It has taken me a while to read through the many pages I missed while I was on holiday but I am up-to-date now. What absolutely beautiful mug rugs that have been sent and received while I was away, a real feast to the eye. As usual, the workmanship has been terrific and I am sure the receivers have been thrilled. It has been a real pleasure to go to another page and find another lovely mug rug or two.

Very lovely mug rug Wendy. I would love to know how you did your binding. The one you made for me is done the same way and I can't figure it out.

Lois, all your mug rugs looks beautiful. So glad you managed to post them in the Show and Tell area.

I have another one to share. This one arrived while I was away during the week. It is so beautiful with the centre rose done in hand dyded fabric, everything has been stitched very carefully around the edges with great precision, the fuchsia are beautiful with their little french knots, the quilting is fabulous and the binding, which is also a hand dyed fabric....well Wendy, I would really like to know how you did that? And if you didn't know already Wendy, I love Fuchsia and wild roses. Thank you so much for such a beautiful mug rug, I will treasure it. :D
