Ladies, you give me too much credit. The butterfly was in a Dover book and so copyright free to use, I traced it onto fabric, used colored pencils and fabric medium to color it, my machine to stitch around every black line with Superior Bottom Line and then machine quilted the background. Thanks for all the praise though--feels good to know others appreciate my work.

All the mug rugs from far and wide lately have been beautiful. Nancy your explanation of the hexie mug rug was very interesting; maybe have to give it a try. I bought the Crafty class with Mickey Depre the other week and haven't had the time to watch it. I will have to now.
I am just finishing off five of my mug rugs to get them posted by the end of the week.

The hexies were really easy to make. I cut pieces of batting the size of the front of the hexie. Pieced the front hexie and lined up the seams along marked lines (ala Mickey Depree) and then folded them over and glued them. I cut pieces of Stable Stuff the size of the back hexie and glued the back fabric over these. I then just edge stitched the back hexies to finish the seams. Then I zig-zagged the hexies together using invisible thread. The only problem I had was that I had made the hexie fronts a little too small so had to trim the batting pieces down a bit to get things to fit. But I checked that before gluing so didn't have to redo anything. I got the idea for the construction from Quiltmaker magazine, don't remember off hand the name of the designer but it was a famous one, maybe Anita Grossman Soloman?
