Welcome back to the states!

Thanks, Nancy! I'll put you back on my list :) No rush :)

The others are taking their husbands, so we'll be hiring car(s) and the guys can do a lot of the driving. I'm used to drive on the continent of Europe so I'm game for giving it a go. I think we will be considering either Denver or Colorado Springs as airports. Any advice gratefully received, collated and filed away for when the serious planning starts. :)

Maureen, you could take a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and I think they have shuttles going to the festival from the different hotels close to the convention center. There are also taxis. Or maybe one of the locals TQS members would drive you around. Driving in the USA is about like driving in France. Still the wrong side of the road for you. :)

Cathy, I wasn't talking about any festival. I know it is quite easy to get shuttles from the airport to a hotel as we have been to Houston a few times but I was talking about La Veta which is a long way away from any airport.

Make they'll shoot a segment of the workshop to put up on TQS of Lorchen and Ricky. Or a whole Smilebox dedicated to the two of them. Now, I'd like to see that!

All of our major airports have "airport shuttle" which is a glorified taxi. Arrangements can be made online ahead of time, even pay ahead of time. They'll take you anywhere for a price. Mine is about $75 one way to my airport, including gratuity...about an hour or 50 miles.

I know you are not currently planning a trip, but if you dan and you are thinking about shuttles or taxis, I would check on this ahead of time. I believe the nearest airport to La Veta is Pueblo, and that is still an hour drive. When my mom came out for a wedding in Evergreen (at a time when I wasn't available), she assumed there would be a hotel shuttle and there wasn't. The cheapest fare she could find was around $100 one way, so she ended up arranging a ride with another wedding guest. Evergreen is about an hour from the Denver airport so the distance is comparable, but the Denver airport is bigger so would have more services.

What exciting news Lorchen and will be so much more enjoyable as you are going with friends.

My sister and I have been saying for years we would love to go to La Veta but getting there seemed quite daunting as neither of us would drive in the USA.

Lorchen, That is awesome news! Do you think Ricky will be able to handle you and your wonderful sense of humor?

I suspect so....

Welcome back to the States, Heather! I was on your list but take your time, my machine has been in the shop for at least two weeks and I probably won't get it for another two, especially with all the snow (read ice) on the ground and my Bernina 830 weighs a ton (have not heard from the technician yet)! Then I'll be able to catch up on the first list I had before I can get to yours. Hope you had a nice holiday with family States-side! :D

We had a great holiday, Renata, thanks! It's been nice to settle in, get adjusted, and start to feel "planted" instead of "visiting."

I'll put you (back) on my list and when I get muggies ready to send I'll email for your address :) No rush on any swap aspect.

Lorchen, I'm jealous! Have a great time in 2015!!!

And --- remind me, guys, who I'm supposed to swap Mug Rugs with in January (-oops-)? I'm settled in our temporary home in the US, sewing machine is unpacked, fabric is waiting, and I cannot seem to find the calendar where I jotted down the names of those of you who wanted a mug rug from me (with my Brazilian fabric I brought over). Hubby starts his business travel next week so I'll have lots of time for making muggies and getting them mailed out :)

I think I have the button enabled so you can email me if you'd like to be on the list (or were already there and I have forgotten). :)
