Duh       Obviously my fingers does not know the difference between 0 and 4    You are quite correct Rita it should have been 24”x 24”. Glad you are looking out for this senior

No excuse  but I had to make arrangements to get my car uplifted on a repair trailer tomorrow. Not only a big hole ripped in the tyre but damage to the car :( :( Luckily I have a protected no claims bonus for life :D :D So my head was filled with other things at the time. :!: :!:

By the way, personally I like my kale in Bubble & Squeak - mashed potato & cooked kale mixed together and then fried - yum!

Can I have my wee dram as blackberry whiskey? I have a better chance of getting to it with DH about....
Of course you can :) Can't stand whiskey so my wee dram is actually Vodka

As the quilts can be from 24”x 24” to 40”x 40” what about a label something like 8” to 10” square (is that big enough for what you plan to do) with the -

Group name - Whispers across the Pond
Order number of quilt
Name of member
State/County
Country

What does everyone think :?:

Yeah, otherwise we would have had to call ourselves the Silent Whisperers across the Pond! Not likely to happen here. :D

Geography, weather, recipes....I'm I on the right forum, eh? Quilting anyone? LOL I think if I had gotten into a group, I'd be too busy keeping up with the forum to do any sewing. I'll miss this when you gals begin sewing and going all silent on us :(
On the other hand...
Well what do you expect  we are not allowed to talk about the quilts (& construction won't be starting until Oct . anyway) and we need to talk about something

I've never printed a label, in fact I've never printed any fabric :?

Mine will be labelled with whatever design you folks come up with, they sound really interesting. :D

Thanks for sharing the way you print your label Nancy. That's very clever. I'm going to add this to my list of tips and tricks :)

Maureen - Either way for getting the 100 word description to you works for me. I think it should be whichever seems easier for you, since you will have to deal with it all. We are kind of on the same wavelength today since I just bought a new set of tires this morning. The pocketbook is a lot lighter, but it'll be welcome once the big snows get here!

I'm happy to put my own label on or let Maureen do it. Again, whichever she prefers. When I'm printing a single label, I cut a piece of the printer fabric a little bigger than my final label, then tape it to a piece of regular printer paper using scotch tape around all of the edges. I print the label on the paper first so that I know where to position the fabric. Then I just run it through the printer again and print the label without wasting any fabric.

It's fun to see how excited we all are for this challenge!

Nancy

     Holy moly! This thread just has a life on it's own. But seems like we are in the same wave length here 8)

Love your idea of the map for the label Rosemary and if Lois idea can be added to it , it'll be great :D

Rosemary, if you're ready to tackle that label and need a bit of graphic tweaking here or there, feel free to send me your layout and idea, and I can help tweak in illustrator, indesign or photo shop... I've many of the graphic programs that we use at work to help... Just let me know (unless of course it's against the rules having an outsider help) :)
I think it is a very nice offer Lotti. I really don't see why that could be a problem at all, since other than attaching the label to the quilt it'll have nothing to do with the design.

Rosemary, I like the image of the globe and the Atlantic. I am picturing those maps of the globes on those magazines in the seat pockets on the airlines with curved lines from place to place to trace the route of the traveling quilts.
That is an interesting variation on my idea - I have a georgous big book called 'The Mapmaker's Art', and have had a quick look in it to see if there are any images that would work, one or two possibles, but always open to alternatives.

Rosemary, are you up for designing a label with the groups name on it   and a space for the makers name and where she is from on it. Your Wott one was terrific. :) You could always email it to everyone and then they could put their name etc on it and print it out and sew it on their quilt. Or better still, email it to me and as the quilts come back to me I will add their names, print them off and sew them on the quilt. That way I could print up a page at a time instead of just one label.
Maureen, you're really sweet to offer to put the labels on the quilts but, as it is, you're alredy doing a lot to get this project going, thanks a million :) I think we can take care of attaching the label to our quilt.
I'm sorry to hear about the tire blowing. Must've been scary. Thankfully the closest I've came to that has been a truck in front of our car getting a tire blown. It was a good thing there wasn't a car in the next lane and the driver managed to keep the control. So glad you're safe :)

Marilyn, hope those fires get soon under control. Stay safe :)

Oh Maureen, you poor thing. I had a blow out once and it was terrifying. Maybe a wee dram in the tea might help. :D

A wee dram or two maybe I'm thinking. The car in un-drivable until the garage comes and picks it up and fixes it so it is alright for me to have a drink :D :D It will help me sleep as well as it was a bit of a shock when the type blew. :(

Yes, and the wee dram might make you better able to deal with all of us. I am sure you must be thinking, "What did I get myself into!" As you read you will see that I had a similar surprise regarding the number of pages that accumulated while I was gone from the cite. I am still not sure if I might have missed something important. What do we chatter about? So very sorry about the tire. :( :(
