But I struggled through that remembering what Ricky says about the pencil having two ends and that you are suppose to use both ends. Let me tell you I did lots of erasing but I was determined. It gave me another opportunity to work with a pigma pen and colored pencils. This time I used Derwert watercolor pencils and was disappointed in the intensity of the color. I liked the Inktense pencils better. These little blocks are 3" square. Here it is in need of a binding. The name of the quilt is: "Been There, Done That".

Wow! That is so STINKING CUTE Loise. You are on a roll. My DD (she's 7 and loves to draw and color) came over when I was looking at your pretty quilt and loved it! Of course she goes "Mami, would you make me one like that?"

I didn't really develop my idea, but the 200 quilt made me think of tic-tac-toe, so I would have done something along those lines. Pretty different, huh???

I found a stitch of time to take a wee look at the forum. All your little quilts are great - lovely! Maureen, keeping you and your challenges in mind and prayer. Everyone is inspiring. Nice to check in on you all. I'm glad to be 'allowed' to look in at the Chinese whispers and have some thoughts in my head for #100, , but don't think they'll get onto paper of fabric....I like the idea of just practicing to get the creative juices flowing.

Been super busy with 'stuff', but tomorrow morning I'm off to a quilting retreat. Listen to me exhaling...............................aaahhhhhhhhhh! Just need to pack.

Lots of happy stitches at your retreat Marilyn!!!

As for the practice quilt, here's my idea, well, more than one but, only a "workable" one though . It is a really nice quilt and my first thought was appliqué flowers and birds. Not enough time to finish it in the allotted time for the Chinise Whispers Challenge  (at least to me). Next I thought of a whole quilt trapunto style with wreaths, flowers and birds, on hand dyed multicolor fabric (colors from the sashing and border). Since I'm not that good at FMQ or any quilting for that matter, had to discard that idea too  . So, my final design would be based on the sashing and border, I really like the fabric colors in them. I would use floral fabrics in those colors to make diapering four patch blocks. A narrow border in a neutral, light color, and put a wide border with birds print fabric. The binding would be dark neutral. Hope all this makes sense

Like Maureen said, it's been quiet around here :? Are we playing hide and seek :?: What's everybody been up to?

Lucky Marilyn have a great time.

My interpretation of the little quilt -
Well all the quilting is swirly and suggests waves to me so water, so that led me on to think of where water and tulips meet so I think I would do a quilt of a narrowboat on a canal with tulips in pots on top and bluebirds sitting on the roof.
I don't know if you have narrowboats over the pond so click to see one :D

Bet the person after me in the challenge is getting really worried

Well, I had something similar in mind, Rosemary..as the thing was limited. As for the little quilt..I'd say
it was just fine ! Because the quilting doesn't show much and is mostly texture. IMHO
I'm off today to a lovely quilting retreat for 3 1/2 days  ....about 1hrs drive from here in the mountains. I intend
to get my reels all made and maybe sewn together. Also taking other WIPs to work on and move up in the queue.
It is beautiful and comfortable...nice to be pampered.! Will be quiet on this front !! :D :D :D

I'd just remembered that since it was monday we should be reporting back on ideas for interpreting quilt no 200.

My idea works off of the little blue bird, and the quantity of quilting that we saw. So I thought that what I would go with would be to hand dye some fabric blue - possibly indigo - and then play about with folded and cut paper to make a medallion of birds & branches, and then quilt it(to death) as a whole cloth quilt.

Ok, neither ESS or NESS got a look in on the quilting. I've tried stipple with 5 pointed starts and cannot decide whether a)I like it or not and b) if it will do and not need to be 'frenchified' and done again. (I am not really a stipple sort of girl  )

Maureen, my heart goes out to you about your friend and her husband and I can only imagine how you are feeling. The Chinese Whispers quilt will come to you, don't worry, even in the midst of all of this, when you least expect it and it will be beautiful.

Rosemary, your Red Fury experiment has really grown on me, and I must say, I really like it and could not imagine changing anything about it--I'm very interested in what you will do with the quilting and can't wait to see it!

Limbania, I also wish you and your friend good things as her husband recovers.
