Sorry... GRE is the Graduate Record Examination, required to get into most graduate schools here in the United States. It's purpose is to measure verbal and quantitative reasoning, as well as analytical writing and critical thinking skills. Not an easy examination but it did look a lot easier to me when I was younger...

One more doodle as it wouldn't let me attach it to the previous post.
Rita,
sorry I won't be able to offer anything right now... my holiday guest from Thailand who is preparing for the GREs has felt sufficiently welcome during the Christmas holiday break that she's been at the subway station waiting for me to pick her up and bring her home every Friday afternoon for the weekend. So we are doing a lot of homework together and I just sneak into the Forum every once in a while to see what I'm missing. But, I did want to let you know that I absolutely adore your last doodle and might even ask your permission to use it in my quilt. I would just have to add a little black cat (my Luigi) somewhere in the vicinity of the bird house... If I can find my way to doodle something, I will certainly share, though. Again, thanks!

I have spent the last while trying to come up with an alternative pattern for the spools quilt. It's really hard to though because the spools are not square and most of the patterns you see on the web are for square spools. Here are some of my doodles. I would love it if anybody had some ideas to share?

Edita's spools are the most elegant, I think, and it's the extra length and shorter top and bottom that creates that. As well as the space in between each spool. I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it.

"I'm being very respectable here. Some ahem 'ladies' would go down the beer tent of an evening without the kerchief covering their cleavages and carrying a bunch of grapes or a punnet of strawberries".

Ripe for the picking, so to speak?

As for the 'bumroll' Rosemary, you look like you are all ready for some rumpy-pumpy! What do you get up to in that get up?
The English Civil War Society re-enactment (1642-49), we used to travel around the country at weekends beat up the roundheads & then get 'relaxed as newts!'

Finally time to post a photo of the purple macaroons! Enjoy all... you don't know how many of my friends requested I opt out of the exchange and just use these for a table runner for them. LOL! One person even posted the request 3 times on facebook. Shhhhh don't tell her, but I kept the 1.5" tails that I cut off each strip for the edging on her birthday present..

Hope you all enjoy them, although I may be another "they are not perfect, but they are sent with the best of friendship to you all"...

Latest News From Headquarters

Due to ill health (not mine) I have a spare slot for 41 reels if anybody who isn't signed up would like to take it over, or someone with only one slot would like a second one.

Please contact me ASAP, thanks

Aw, come on Rosemary, you must have some fat quarters by now. ' fess up, you must have some fat quarters. I sent you some across the pond, and you told me that you got my honey and salad, so you musta got a wee bit of fat quarters by now. And, you know what, even thouugh I sent them over there, I still have some here, and I bet if I sent you all my fat quarters, they'd still be getting in. Gosh, they multiply faster than rabbits! How to get rid of them? Eat the salad, and forget about all the desserts coming your way. (maybe just Lotti's fruit thing.)

How I wish all fat quarters could just simply be sent across the pond! It was a wonderful idea - just send Rosemary all our fat quarters, then pitch in to help her make a huge quilt to cover them up!
Yep - I've got fat quarters, but I keep them under control under a 'pair of bodies' (corset)

Well, I learn something new everyday. However, on the TQS forum, I thought it would have to do with quilting - not grampa eating long john donuts in his long johnS

Rectangular maple doughnuts?
Must be an Alberta thing...I thought Long Johns are men's long underwear. Well, I guess some things don't cross the great divide!

As long as we all know what a stash is, we'll be quilting just fine! Non-quilters can raise their eyebrows when we talk about our 'stash'!

Not an Alberta thing! We have either called the rectangular doughnut a long john or a maple bar. Californa or Missouri, doesn't matter, That is what we called the yummy doughnut. Now, if you add an S, like long johns, then we are usually talking about what my grandpa wore under his clothing. If you Google long john it will say it is either long underwear or a bar shaped doughnut.
