I still need a bit of clarification. :) If I can't make the prototype deadline of Sept 1, or soon after, can I submit a finished quilt by the Jan 1 deadline to be included in the printed book? I'm going to be really close on finishing the top in 5 or 6 more days, but I probably can finish, quilt, and bind in 4 months. I'm going to give my best try either way - just post up here so I'll know whether to photograph & do a writeup.

ABSOLUTELY!! Carol just wants to be able to show what the final book could include and to encourage everyone to keep working to make the final deadline. We want as many projects as possible in the book!

As soon you get your top done, you might want to send Carol a note and ask if she can accept a late entry for the prototype. I'm not sure what her final cut-off date is, but she did say that she's extending the deadline for a few people.

UPDATE FROM CAROL

Hi Margo, I would like to have at least a finished top. It does not need to be quilted or have the borders on, but just a good representation of what the final project will look like. I would also like to have their story.

I want the prototype to give everyone that looks at it to be inspired with ideas for their HST's with projects that are 90-100% complete. I am hoping that will encourage all that participated in the exchange to make something with their HST's and Strips by Jan. 1, if they see what others are doing with them.

I will take it upon myself to say that if you can get a photo of how you expect to sew your top together, that will work for the prototype edition! As soon as you have your quilt finished, send new photos to Carol for the final draft. Go ahead and send her your write-up, and if it needs to be replaced, send a new one with the final photos.

In the meantime....I'll share this with Carol, and if she says differently, you can take it out of my pay!

How finished does the prototype due September 1 need to be? I'd like to participate but life has gotten in the way. I know what I'm going to do but have not sewn a thing. It can be laid out on my design board/wall for the photos due September 1. Thanks.
How many submissions are expected?

Lotti, your quilts are FAB, FAB, FAB and oh so STINKIN' COOL! 8)  And...NEATSIE KEEN!

Margo, you hit the nail on the head when you thot about YOUR HSTs traveling all over the world. The big focus has been our receiving wonderful HSTs from other quilters worldwide, but you brought up a very interesting point! And...I love the new phrase you just coined!!!! 8) To quote my niece in Chicago: COOL BEANS!

Great work on your beautiful quilts, Lotti!

Hugs,
Shirley

Kathy, I suggest that you just try sending Carol an e-mail, or several if all the photo files are that large.
If the each file is too large, maybe she can tell you another method to try.
