I'm trying to think of a good way of preserving the names of reel/spool makers for the Wot RoTT project now... was wondering whether the top and bottom of the spools might be a good place to embroider names? Cathy, I feel like I've received my "welcome aboard" all over again after posting the photo...

Rosemary, I love your quilt. It is beautiful, and I love the way you preserved the names of all your hst makers.

Renata, it is good to see a picture of you. Great picture!

Wow, What a beautiful quilt. Love the design.
I have only just started sewing again after caring for DH for a couple of months. He is doing very well and back working now.
It is a joy to just disappear into my sewing room, put the music on and sew.

I am going to have to find something taller to hang it from for the final pictures

WhenI was putting the outer border on, it said that it wanted a fat rope between the 2 sets of flying geese, that should be interesting, and I hope I get it done in time for the deadline - high speed quilting (for me) here I come!

Love it!!!!!! Nice red on the borders and a clever way to do the names. Quilt like mad woman. I want to hear that machine from here. Have fun quilting. Clara

Rosemary, your HST quilt is so delightful, airy and beautiful. I especially like the center design, but frankly, I love everything about it. Renata

I was fairly certain that I didn't want to keep all the paper triangles, but I did want to keep records of everyone I received hst's from.

I first thought of the border soon after putting my name down for the exchange, but had no idea what to do with the hsts initially. Fortunately the chatter on the forum threw up some ideas and other places to look for block ideas. which I reduced to 2 patterns. The centre panel is all from the Bats-R-US exchange and the geese and Ribbon Chain from Sottts.

Originally I was going to do the geese like the outer border, but had too many names, it would have been all border and no hsts! so for the inner border I reversed the positioning. I then made up 'stencils' with a sticky label on the back to hold the papers in position and with fabric cut fractionally larger, I printed them off either 8 or 12 at a time (depending on whether they were the main piece or the side wings. After waiting a day I starched and stitched them up - you need to wait at least 24 hours even with epson Durabrite inks to give them plenty of time to thoroughly dry, then they are colour fast to liquid, is my experience so far.

I had a problem with the corner posts, I had originally planned on putting the name 'Batty, Besottted and Bewildered' in those blocks, but this week when I was writing & printing them I made up Sisterhood of the Travelling Triangles instead and didn't recall the original plan until I had nearly finished putting the last border on (sigh) so off they came today and I have a set of corner posts to try and incorporate into the lining, where I hope to also include pictures of Nils Desparandum and Magnus Ridiculum - I am a great believer in 'back art' for my quilts.

PS Shirley I know exactly where one of your hsts went!

Rosemary, do the geese have signatures of the triangle makers? It looks like they have words on them. Great quilt.

Rosemary! I love your finished quilt! Bee-you-tee-full  Did you print out a copy of the labels onto the fabric or did you sew the actual piece of paper onto the fabric? What a great design!!

Rosemary, your quilt is beautiful! Love what you did with the "geese names" 8) in the outer border! Happy quilting!
Cheers,
