I had some unexpected free time this weekend so all of my HST's are now sorted for 48 blocks. I've decided to make a rag quilt instead of my original idea so it will go faster and I can quilt it myself. I don't expect it will be ready as a prototype though but I should be able to finish it by the end of the year. My BOM's will just have to be postponed for awhile. I numbered the papers on the back of the HST's from 1 thru 9, and I'm numbering the finished block and putting the papers for each block in a separate baggie. Now I will know which paper goes with each HST without a lot of work. My first block is now sewn except for the corner triangles. They will be sewn to the block after it is layered with backing and batting for quilt-as-you-go. I have all of the corners and backing squares cut. I just need to find enough of the same type of batting scraps to cut. I will not have to spend any money on this quilt except maybe for thread for quilting. It sounds like I need to find out what a Steady Betty is!

Re: What have you gotten sewn so far?

Yes, Margo. I have one. I had 25% off at my LQS and was looking for something to spend it on. I saw the 12x12 Steady Betty. Balked at the price but got it. Oh my gosh.... You will have to pry it from my cold dead hands! I am one of those people that no matter how hard I try not to, I stretch my triangles. Not any more. I have been so wishing they made a larger size and recently found out they do. And a few other things as well. Money well spent.

Barbara, you are right about needing a Steady Betty for these triangles (or any quilting project)! Next to a good ruler and rotary cutter, it is the best quilting purchase I have made. The fabric irons so well and will not slide. I also have their Steady Betty strips to place on my hands for machine quilting that are wonderful. They completely eliminate having to take gloves off and on to thread your needle or machine while machine quilting. Outstanding products. Beverly
