Thank you again, Margo! Okay, my daughter taught me that if you FEED a man a fish, he has a meal. If you TEACH a man to fish, he can feed himself for life. So, I need to learn this trick. First tell me; is this a cut and past thing? I learned it years ago, but without using it periodically, I forget. If that is the case, I will have DH refresh my memory.

That's a favorite quote of mine, Dawn!! :D

No, it's not just cut and paste, but after you've done a couple it's easy to figure out how. You have to save photos on your hard drive in order to upload them onto the forum. For instance, to retrieve Carol's photo, I just went to Carol's profile, scrolled down to "My Latest Blogs" found her Member Blog about her sister's quilt and opened it.
I put the cursor on the photo of her sister's quilt and RIGHT CLICKED; Selected "Save Image As" and put it in a file on my hard drive where I knew I could find it! I usually put all my TQS photos in a file I call "2011 TQS" in "My Pictures". (Sorry, I can't help you with the MAC photo terms.)

To insert a photo in a forum comment, just fill in your text as usual. After you have filled in your text box, scroll down a little farther and click on “Upload Attachment”. Click “Choose File” and navigate through your computer to the photo you want to post. Click on your chosen photo to select it, and then click “OPEN”, and then click “add the file”. After the file has been uploaded, park your cursor in the text box where you want the picture to show up and click “place in-line”. The photo title will appear where your cursor was. Click “Submit” and you will be taken back to the forum page and your post should be there. (Your photos will load quicker if you can resize them to a smaller file.)

Dawn,

Are you planning on doing these tiny stars for your entire HST quilt or were you just trying it out? Since I still struggle with accurate 1/4" seams on large blocks, I can't even imagine working with such itsy-bitsy pieces that look so perfect. You must have very good eyesite and a very good light on your machine...plus a lot of patience. I still can't imagine that the block is only 3" square.

Debbie

Debbie,

I have only done paper pieced minis. This will be different, and probably a challenge, but I'm up for it. I love small detail work. If you go to (I think) the blog before last of cmollers, you will see a quilt that she did for her sister. (Or just hang around and Margo will majically make it appear!) That is what I plan on doing. I think this quilt will lend itself perfectly to the randon HSTs that I will be receiving. Oh, do you recognize any of the fabric in the picture?

I'll see if I can figure out where it is on the blog (since I'm a little blog challenged)...or I'[ll check back to see Margo's magic as appeared! Your quilt will be absolutely incredible! And, yes, some of the fabric does look suspiciously familiar!!

Lotti, I totally agree....I need to win the lottery and retire NOW! I had so many ideas before, and now these exchanges are sending me off in another directions altogether...and then there is the Rhapsody that Ricky teases us with...and....and...

Dawn, I love your little experiment...saw the earlier blog and Margo's illustration, but it's great to see it demonstrated...can't wait to see how it turns out! Nancy

I couldn't wait! I had to play! I saved back one or two of each HSTs grouping I made, and cut them in half, then halved them again, so I can make a very small quilt. (This gives me a light square, a dark square, and two HST) Then I played. There are repeats in my "play" scrappy star, because I do not have all of the wonderful HSTs that I will receive from all of you. I made mostly subdued HSTs, but am hoping to recieve a variety of colors! I have a feeling ANYTHING will work! My finished star will measure 3." (You can click on the picture for a larger view.)

Thanks for all the ideas, ladies. Maybe I will venture into the teeny tiny world of miniature quilts for this exchange. You inspire me...

When cut into fourths like this your units will measure 3/4" x 3/4" when finished! WONDERFUL DESIGN DAWN!

And thanks go to Annis for the suggestion to miniaturize the HSTs!!
