TOPIC: Specific fabric exchanges

Re: Specific fabric exchanges 26 Jan 2011 12:15 #55177

I am realy good with this exchange. 23 is a good number. I will try to do as many as possible but am about to become a Grandmother on or about march 3. If you could set the final ground rules, I will happily follow them. :D
my email is mailto:sanquilt@optonline.net and look forward to hearing from you. When is the deadline? Where do I send for the papers? Thanks for hosting it. I recently did host a heart swap at Carol Doaks site and it was a lot of work, sorting bagging and mailing. I appreciate your effort and would be happy to send you a fat quarter as a gift for all this work. Sandy

After the Sisterhood HST exchange is over, I'd be interested in a strip exchange that could be used to make several of the quilts in Edyta's book, Friendship Strips & Scraps, including the Farmhouse Quilt and the Spool Quilt. And batiks would be beautiful for that exchange.

I would be interested in a strip exchange as well. Really want to do both of those quilts also. There are just to many quilts to make and not enough time to do them all. :)

I checked my stash, and the piece I had in mind when I wrote cream batik is actually a hand dye. Will that work? -- Naomi in Oegon

Welcome Susan. OK ladies, I have spent all morning online (after failing to find any in the area) looking for cream batiks and what I have found is that they all have different colors in with them. So, I just want you to be aware of that. Also, this leads me to the conclusion that if you want to use a cream/white/beige fabric that is not batik--go for it.

Have you checked http://www.batiks.com (i think that's it). Have not checked recently but they have a ton on batiks.

I am in for a batiks/cream exchange.

Just double checking - are we doing the triangles, like the traveling sisterhood - just using cream (or neutral) on one side and dark on the other. If so, I think I want to join this one :-)

I am ok with dark and light batiks as long as the contrast is good. I think you are right, it is hard to find a cream but you will undoubtedly get some with cream batiks, I have a few. I think in the all over view of a quilt, the thing one looks at is contrast.Especially scrapppy.

Hi - I'm in the big exchange but would also be interested in the neutral/batik exchange if it is going to actually take place. Just let me know if/when it's a "GO".
Terrie from Montreal, Canada TQS name crocus999 I love batiks! I think batiks with any neutral would be good.(IMHO)

Well, a final decision has to be made at some point - batik and beige print, batik and light batik, or whatever. No batik is solid, so don't anticipate finding a flat beige batik. And actually, a flat beige would be booooorrrrrriiiiinnnnngggg! Some beiges are pinkish, some yellowish, and some greenish. So I'm thinkin' just two contrasting batiks - a darkish and a lightish (maybe even pale blue or lilac). My 2 cents. Waiting for the final verdict. :|

I'm interested in batik w/cream color on one side. I COULD be interested in just cream with greens, or I could go with anything with cream. -- Naomi in Oregon
