Hi ! Melinda...She'll get a vote here ! I remember her visits on Alex's "Simply Quilts " and what an inspiration !
I still use that "every red" quote all the time ! And picture her on those roller skates !

Hi Melinda,

I agree! I used to live in Carmel, north of Indy. I worked for Kaye England and had the pleasure of knowing Mary Ellen. She was quite a lady!

I will always remember her telling us "Every red goes with every other red."

I'll send in my vote too!

I'm not sure if this is the perfect place to post such a request. But here goes.
Mary Ellen Hopkins, extraordinary quilt-maker,designer,author of many books, teacher for thousands.Deceased July 2013:The quilt world lost a terrific wonderful person.
So many of us attended her workshops and seminars. We bought her books. She encouraged us to trust our gut feelings when it came to choosing fabrics etc.She was a tremendous influence on her readers and students. When I'm auditioning fabrics for a project,I can almost hear her say "Go for it!" She encouraged us to 'break out of the box' and be creative.I attended her seminars in Indianapolis for several years consecutively;and always returned home so charged up with new ideas, that I couldn't wait to get into my sewing room.
In my opinion,Mary Ellen deserves to be inducted into the Quilter's Hall of Fame. However,it takes a lot of votes to achieve that.So I am asking that you contact the QHF to honor Mary Ellen for her contributions to the quilting world.
