Almost half of September is gone. I better get my act together and make a journal quilt soon.

I'm kind of like you are Judy. I'm so buried right now with projects to finish but unfortunately, life keeps getting in my way. I've been sick for a month and that has really set me back. I always say I can't be sick because I have to take care of my husband who is in poor health. I don't thin I'll ever catch up. I really did want to do the journal quilt. I'm not totally sure I understand the whole concept, but maybe if I observe this time, I'll be able to do it next time. What's posted so far is wonderful. Keep it up y'all. Charlotte

We are getting such a terrific collection of JQ's and each one speaks to me. Aren't they the most fun! I can't wait to get the one out of my head and into fabric....as soon as this darned brace is gone...look out-the brain is at the boiling point..

first journal quilts 03 Sep 2009 21:52 #38116

I just posted two journal quilts. The first one is an idea I have been playing with for about a year (or more) since my dear friend gave me these two fabrics and I wanted to do something special with them. It was a fun little project.

The second one is a dual project. I belong to a Yahoo group called Fast Friday Fabric Challenge (FFFC). Every month we get a challenge that we are to finish in one week (or not- no quilt police are allowed on the site). This months challenge was a translucent design with a horizon in it. I have been a member for a year and have finished some others but have not posted any yet. guess I will post this one.

My plan for my journal quilts next year is to use the monthly challenge for my journal quilt. The theme next year is quilts from nature. So we will see.

This is a great idea and the quilts posted are wonderful. Hope you enjoy mine. Ann

Glad you won a Little Gem Lorchen - they raised £9,700!!

By the way I buy my litter trays specially for dyeing - the cat has to go outside!

Margaret, thanks a lot about the details about sun printing (it's raining here right now  ). I really must do some. I've got the paints and the litter tray (never had a cat :) ).

I bought three tombola tickets for the 'Little Gems' draw at FoQ, and one of them won. I got a lovely little quilts, very traditional, and pieced mainly from silks. It's still in the suitcase (and that's in the car because of the rain). I'll take a picture and show it off as soon as possible.

It's done and posted. I have a baby quilt to finish then on to the next journal quilt. It was so much fun creating and putting my thoughts and feelings into a quilt. Gloria

Serendipity-doo-dah, zippity ay...At Long Beach last month I finally bot 1 of the batting sample sets with the idea of doing a group of small quilts, since I can't seem to get going on anything bigger these days. Lo & behold, TQS pops up with the encouragement I need! My theme chose itself, and it could be good for a lifetime. 8>) See you in the Show & Tell. Have fun everybody! KatH
