TOPIC: QUILTS OF VALOR

Sandi, I'm trying to work out my schedule to go - it would be ridiculous to have them here in my town and not be able to go!

Thanks Sue. I saw your QOV. I like that design. It is really is great seeing all the different ways to show our appreciation for what those men and women are doing.
The shop is nice and lovely to have so close again. She had moved close to Jax airport and was not as convenient. I'm gonna be at The Super Seminar in Ocala in March!! You going? Sandi in FL

Sandi, How cool that this was your first full sized quilt! Nice Job! I'm in Florida too - Ocala. I heard you have a nice quilt shop in Fernandina. Sue

I've done one quilt for QOV. The guild I am in are trying to do as many as we can. I have another one started, need to finish borders and get it off to quilter. It is very feminine, so may go to wife or mother of an injured soldier. My first one is in my profile. Sandi in FL

Lynn, That's marvelous. It's just me and my two "quilt buddies". I'm trying to enlist them for the cause. Sue

I'm in 2 different groups who are doing QOV. It's a great place to put time and effort and the QOV.org website is a good read for anyone interested in this nation-wide project!

P.S. to Lilo. A chaplain in Germany wrote to Catherine at Quilts of Valor to share his concern that in these tough economic times, quilters may not be able to make quilts for soldiers due to the cost of fabric. With all respect to the chaplain, I wanted to laugh - he obviously doesn't have a quilter in the house - I don't know about you but my stash reproduces like jack rabbits! :)

Wow, thanks, Lilo. I can tell you, it is so humbling to actually make one. I would pray for whoever would receive my quilt as I made it. I don't have a LOT of time to quilt, but as soon as I dropped this one off at the Post Office, can't wait to start the next one. How can we ever repay the valor and sacrifice shown by our brave military and support personnel? Please thank your husband for me for his service.

I have not made a quilt, but my husband received a Quilts of Valor quilt two years ago. I can tell you that he was extremely touched by the time and love put into the quilt he received. He has also saved every letter he ever received while away at war. Thank you so much for your generocity.
