The reason he has no idea about the current multi-billion dollar home quilting industry is that this film was made in 1988 in the UK. Things have changed a bit in 25 years :whistle:

I enjoyed that, thanks for the link. Wow, that guy has no idea about the multi-billion dollar home quilting industry. I guess we are keeping domestic sewing machine business alive since there are fewer people who sew clothes any more.

My mom had a Singer in the 70s that came with removable cogs for the various decorative stitches; I think there were about 20 cogs. But I agree with what was said in the video that most of the decorative stitches on machines are never used, so I wonder why the manufacturers continue to include them.

That was really interesting Rosemary, thanks for the link. Interesting that even in 1988 it was obvious that the older machines were made to last while the new electronic ones were built not to last but to avoid obsolescence for the manufacturer.
