Ritzy, I love to hear a man with a Scottish accent....... very sexy! Doesn't really matter what they say! :)

Lorchen--I just listened to an audio book where the narrator was Scottish and had to really listen carefully to understand him. I knew he was speaking the same language but between the heavy accent and the slang, I had to do some rewinding and listening again.

I occasionally get a phone call from lady who lives in 'deepest' Wales. She sounds delightful, almost musical, but I have real problems understanding what she actually says. I had the chance to spend a weekend in a workshop with her, but went for one of the other options, because I'm sure I would have been mentally exhausted after trying to understand her for a few hours, let along 2 days. I guess I'm not relocating to Wales anytime soon.

By the way, even after over 30 years in England I still speak with a noticeable German accent. :)

I know the feeling. "Two countries separated by a common language." I often resort to "smile and nod". Heading up to Northumberland this weekend. Wish me luck...

He totally missed out the Midlands (& Derbyshire) too  As for me I am a Berkshire lass, just relocated to Yorkshire - via London, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire & Nottinghamshire. Hey-ho what it is to travel about the country (and trying to find fabric shops...)

Wow! That was pretty cool! And, I understood everything he said! Unlike a lot of British movies that I have seen! I really have a hard time understanding their "English!"
