Most baby quilts I have made (including for my 3 daughters) have been in primary colours or batiks of all sorts. I avoid the blue and pink but have used soft yellows and pastel greens as an alternative for those moms who prefer the more traditional....

Thanks for the link, Susan. Something to do at the weekend. During the week I'm up to my eyes in special needs support. :)

Lucky Lorchen!
I follow Wendy Sheppard's blog...quilt designer for magazines using new fabrics and great machine quilter. She loves following the Queen and Royal Family.

https://ivoryspring.wordpress.com/

She has a daughter, Miss Baby, who influences her quilt thinking a lot (my speculation). You might consider looking back through her blog archives for some lovely quilts that are feminine, but not necessarily "pink".

How exciting, Lorchen!!! My DSIL is also outnumbered, with 2 daughters and 2 sisters who between them have three daughters, one of whom (at age 18) is currently living with my DD and DSIL. But he manages, and I suspect your son will too. There's something about fathers and daughters  ... My DD used pink and chocolate polka dots for DGD #1's birth announcement. That was a great combination! Hugs, Robin

Pink has always been outside of my comfort zone, Wendy, but since Eva's arrival I'm getting used to it.

Rosemary, you are almost right. This little one is officially due on the 20th of August. Eva was on time, so I'm hoping that this one will behave and not be early. Should she make an early appearance, I know where I will be - and it's not FoQ. :)

Purple makes a nice counterpoint if you have a surfeit of pink, so does green. Isn't she due during the FoQ?

Yah how exciting. Grey is really nice with pink and gives it a modern look, but if you like pink........................

Have you seen a scan picture. Aren't they exciting :D

We found out yesterday that grandbaby no.2 is developing nicely, and ......... it's another girl. Chris says that he is going to be totally outnumbered: 1 wife, 2 daughters, and a female cat with attitude!

And I have a great excuse to increase my stash of pink fabrics. :)
