Yes, your friend is correct!! Right here in my back yard is the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, taking place the entire month of April :D

I was thinking modern quilt, too. I'mprovisationally pieced with straight line quilting. How cool!

I had seen this too, when checking weather for road conditions/travel. It definitely has the modern, scrappy quilt vibe happening.
