Rita, that is guaranteed!

Anyway we did have 8 days straight of sunshine in May, and there was that sunny spell in March, when we started getting lots of hosepipe bans across Britain - they have been cancelled, fortunately, because we need the hoses to help drain things out.

Lucky you only having 6 days to go. We have another month! Isn't it shocking to think that we have not had a single day that we could take the kids to the beach or even have a picnic or barbecue outside? I suppose the sun will be splitting the stones when the kids are all back at school.

My gran's machine is just like Jessica, although it has a broken foot leaver and sometimes playes up with it's tension spring. But I love all the extra specialist feet it comes with :D

We had a whole day of sunshine yesterday, Wow! sure beats wed. when we had 2 stripes of torrential rain & 2 stripes of dry between 12-1pm, getting the kids out for lunch break, then in, then out, then in again  talk about restless, they were hyper & wild. Still only 6 days to go!

I was so interested in this that I did some hunting around and I believe you can get the whole setup for about $300 to $350, including the treadle mechanism, though I can only find antique mechanisms. I have no place at all to put it in my townhome or I might be tempted someday. :D I need a bigger house.

I was at the CQC show this morning and asked the Janome rep about their tredle machine. I didn't check the
price, but the price is only for the machine. You still have to get a cabinet and the tredle mechanism. :?

Beautiful machine Lorchen. I have my grandmother's treadle foot which I will pop into my Mary Poppins bag on the way out the door. BJ I love the look of that Janome treadle machine. I wonder how much it costs. What a clever idea - it means that you can sew in the Ark or tent or boat, camper van.... sew many places! :D

Lorchen, Jessica is beautiful! Perhaps you should use her to make your dove quilt. You could put a rainbow in the background. :D

Sunny here in Kent this morning, Lorchen (warm enough in fact for a quick splash at the beach!) but rain is tipping down again this evening....we may soon have enough water on land for me to visit by kayak!
I have a treadle Singer, which was my great great aunt's, and now have a hand cranked Jones to add to my collection after a trip to a boot fair in Cornwall last week. So I'm well-equiped to sew if we have to evacuate upstairs..... :)

You better quilt a dove so you can find land again. (Just to restock on fabric etc.,)

Betty Jo, however interesting that Janome is, I am the proud owner of 'Jessica', an antique hand-crank singer. She is in full working order, so I can quilt anywhere (well, except under water, I guess). :)

Aww. I was hoping you were going to get one of those new Janome treadle machines for the ark and report back to us about how it works.    There's something fascinating about that. Here's the link in case you decide to stock it in any way--I was wrong, though, it only has 10 utility stitches and a buttonhole stitch:

But I'm happy the sun came out. :D
