Betty Ann, what a great idea! And she would love that :-)

Sherry, be sure to have a nice piece of jewlery made from the elk ivory, a perfect way to remember the hunt for the rest of her life. I have a beautiful elk ivory necklace from my hubby's elk and a huge set of antlers on my livingroom wall. We love our hunters. Betty Ann

A very late Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. We are at our son's in northeastern Oregon. Had a wonderful "turkey day." Then yesterday my husband went hunting with our son and 15 year old granddaughter - actually she was the only one hunting. She shot her first elk. I'm not sure who was most excited -her dad or her grandpa, but those were some pretty proud faces :-) It looks like elk is on our Christmas menu this year.

And, a belated Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I am looking forward to the second round of turkey dinner tonight! I always enjoy it more the second night, because everything is already made, and I am more relaxed. I just wish I had one of Barbara's pies! Our store bought one was so-so. DH did go back for seconds on it , though!

We went to the same tree place that we went to last year (where they hang the trees from the rafters to the floor, so you can turn the tree instead of walking around it.) and picked out our Christmas tree today. We will pick it up Dec.3. It's nice and tall and bushy! But, not so bushy that the ornaments won't "hang" from the branches.

We had a great Thanksgiving! My husband and I spent the day with my brother, his wife, their son and his partner. The turkey was great, the stuffing was the best, the laughs we shared were non stop and the pies I baked...were pretty damn good! Thanks to those who said they looked good. Now I can say they tasted as good as they looked. Hope all of you enjoyed your holiday...we did!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I had a very rushed turkey sandwich in school. :)

sweet potato pineapple mash: is served as a side with turkey (at our dinner they had turkey, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes (with pineapple bits), carrots & peas, brussels sprouts & bacon, stuffing, gravy and last but certainly not least cranberry sauce.
the sweetpotatopineapple mash (sppm) is quite sweet, but goes very well with the turkey.
i've never made it myself but found a few recipes online (there are many more)
- this is probably the closest to what we had: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/mashed-sweet-potatoes-with-pineapple-10000000358691/
these also sound worth a try: http://forecast.diabetes.org/recipes/mashed-sweet-potatoes-pineapple-and-spices or http://www.ifood.tv/recipe/sweet_potato_with_pineapple

if i tried it myself - i would probably steam or bake the sweet potatoes, mash em, add shredded fresh pineapple (the tart freshness should be good with the potatoes' sweetness), then add a little bit of butter(to make the flavours come out), and salt & pepper as needed and bake until hot
i don't think i'd add all the spices, as i love the flavour of the sweet-potatoes and don't really want to hide it.

I came across this recipe & know it's on my to-do list this week. I have VERY fond memories of my Mom's cooking & her dumplings were wonderful. I'm in hopes THIS recipe fulfills my memories. Whatcha think ?
Best to all, Nancygail

Sweetpotato-mineapple mash sounds weird! Is it a pudding or do you have it with the main course? & how do you make it?
