If you need further infomation, let me know.

Here where I live in MI there are 6 quilt shops within about 30 mile drive... that I actually drive to..... there are about 6 more on the west side but I rarely drive that way. The ones I shop are just on my way to where I go to visit family so they are more convient.

MY favorite is a little discount QUILT shop in the small ( whistle stop) town of Hadley MI. Elaine buys/ orders from warehouses in Tennesse and several southern states to bring back QUILT SHOP QUALITY fabric. She carries all the best name brand fabrics. The fabric is not the newest but my attidude is IF I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE IT IS NEW TO ME! She gets new bolts of fabric every month. It has gotten to the point a lot of quilters come to shop her shop just to see if OLDER fabric they need or want is available. Her prices are great (THIMBLEBERRIES for $5 ) so you have to be quick to get the fabric before it is sold out. I always go to Elaine's Shop first whenever I start a new project.

I can not believe I did not post the name of the shop:

ELAINE QUILTY SHOP on Pratt and Hadley Roads... the only intersection in town......

Stop by if you get a chance the shop and the people are great.

brag about a quilt shop 22 Mar 2007 16:15 #2368

I am totally with you I used to live within an hour of Gruber's miss it a lot when we are on the road or in Texas but I know I can go to their web site and usually find what I need and more-- was trying to pick fabric for a quilt that needed twelve different fabrics and the person the quilt for had black red & purple as her favorite colors they helped my pick from a simply fabulous array of black fabric with other colors and put together a combination that was STUNNING. (EVEN LAURA BUSH HAS BEEN TO GRUBERS) LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT only problem is Ialways over spend my budget there.

Okay, I have to brag up Gruber's Quilt Shop in Waite Park/St. Cloud, Minnesota. I live in Michigan, but this is my favorite place, and I wish I could go there more. But they send me fabric through the mail (life is good!!!!).

Great Quilt Shop in College Station, TX-AGGIELAND 24 Feb 2007 23:42 #1358

There is a new quilt shop here in College Station, TX. It's called LONESTAR QUILTWORKS. Terri and her staff are wonderful. If you ever make it to College Station, TX be sure to stop by her shop. It is located right behind the Walmart in College Station, go down Longmire and pass the Walmart and Alberston's shopping center to Brothers, turn left on Brothers and she is at the end of the strip mall on your left.

She also has a longarm machine if you need any quilting done.

Hey all - It is great to hear about your favorite shops - now, help us tell the world. If your shop owner or manager joins our site as a Star member, they can post an additional listing in their profile about their shop at no extra chage - what great advertising! Then their shop is in the database. I saw someone ask if there was a shop in in a particular town - the idea for thesse posting is for YOU to go to Search - and FIND A SHOP - complete with Mapquest directions. So. spread the word and get your favorite shops to join The Quilt Show.

Hope you can be a part of the embroidery class. I've always had a lot of good luck with the Quilt Store which is why I venture up 84. The displayed quilts are beautiful and there are so many quilt kits cleverly displayed. See you Saturday.

I know what you mean about the drive, I hate 84 too. Remember, we can always send you something if you need it.

Do I know you? 21 Feb 2007 07:44 #1227

Roni, we really don't know each other. I did take a machine quilting class with you a while back and I am a retired first grade teacher. :D I like visiting the Quilt Store but can't make it up there too often because it's a trip and I hate driving up 84 and gettin off exit 5 is no picnic...especially if you don't like to drive.
I enjoy very much the ladies that work in the store. Ginny has been a big help on many occasions. I always get in trouble when I'm there because the display quilts are so beautiful and motivating that I end up spending more than I planned.
You have done some beautiful machine quilting.
Will you be at the class on Saturday with the machine embroidery with the Bernina instructor? It sounds like a lot of fun. I'll be there!

Quilt Stores 17 Feb 2007 14:26 #1117

I recognize a few names here from other chatboards! If you're in my neck of the woods, I would recommend The Quilt Basket. It's in Wappingers Falls, New York. Great classes and it's my home away from home.
Love my Bernina dealer...S&S appliances in Hyde Park, New York.
Love the Quilt Store in Danbury, too. Great people there.
