Sounds to me like this quilt is just as special as the woman who made it. Not only that but the woman recieving it must be very special as well. You are both treasures and that quilt will be aroud for along as a reminder of that. I am so glad to hear that it was so appreciated. Rachel

Nancy,
Isn't it great when your hard work is acknowledged and appreciated. You said you were honored to make it. It sounds like Desiree is blessed with a lot of love, including yours.

Quilt Unveiling Party 04 Apr 2008 21:34 #16784

If you've read my "story" about the birthday quilt, you'll already know that Desiree planned a "reveal" party for her birthday quilt. I went to it tonight. She had a room at a restaurant, I took the portable quilt stand that my guild owns, we hung the quilt and she covered it with a sheet. Once everyone arrived, Desiree actually asked for a drumroll and pulled off the sheet. She introduced me to her guests and they all clapped. It was kind of surreal. It was interesting to meet them all after seeing their blocks.

It was a really nice party with silly games she'd prepared and good food. She made everyone a coaster with a photo of the quilt. She prepared little books telling the meaning of every block and the relationship she has with the maker of each block. She had prepared a chart of all the blocks and had everyone sign it. She plans to frame it and hang it next to the quilt. I received lots of compliments.

It was clear that Desiree has a lot of dear friends who care about her. This quilt means so much to her and it was an honor to make it for her.
