Bamboo planted in this country grows like WILDFIRE, making it an easliy replenishable resource. There is little around that will kill it and the climate here is perfect. I know here in WV if you plant it and don't stay on it it will take over your property in a hurry. The wild bamboo in China where pandas live is in trouble though due to changes in climate and pollution issues, but I don't think that is what they use for this type of batting.

Bamboo batting is the best I have ever used. It drapes so nice, layers great, I just love it!
I love it so much I went out and bought bamboo sheets for my bed and bamboo pillows!

A representative of the Knoxville Zoo was on radio last week. She said they they often get calls from locals that they, or their neighbor, put out some bamboo and it is out of control. They will sometimes go out and collect it to feed to their pandas. I thought that was pretty neat.

I have read the bamboo being used for textiles is a different variety than that of the panda habitats. Also the industry is raising and harvesting the bamboo on farms like any other crop.
I have a set of sheets out of bamboo they are very soft and have been very durable I have washed them many times in hot or warm water and they have held up as well or better than their cotton counterparts.

I think bambo will grow just about anywhere...we have some in our yard and it can be hard to get rid of.

I just saw an ad for this and was wondering the same thing myself. How does the price compare?

I do wonder where they get their bamboo from as I remember reading that pandas were losing their natural habitats because of over-harvesting bamboo. I'm not sure whether that is still a problem or not.
