another good book/method is Cynthia England's Picture Piecing. I have a quilt on my profile that I did using her method that is done from pictures of my son, Stephen and his dog.

Wendy Butler Berns, a member here, was featured in the Chat Room last week talking about quilts from photos. You might want to read the chat transcript for that chat and see if that's what you're interested in. She has a book which I ordered. It just came today so I can't give a review yet! You can type her name in the member search and find her profile and see some quilt examples.

How about the book, Mosaic Picture Quilts, by TQS member Pat Durbin? Great book, and easier method! Check out her profile here and see a sample of her quilts!

Oh I forgot. I'm hoping to get in to Marilyn's class in May at Quilt University.

Marilyn Belford is a phenomenal portrait quilter and she has a book that's going to be my next purchase. And I also took a class with Charlotte Warr Anderson. She's phenomenal as well and her method is very complicated. Also TQS members Redcheek2 and mtnhorse have some great work on this site. Check their profiles and blogs. I want to some day turn out a good portrait quilt and have been practicing and studying methods for years. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler so am looking for something that will work for me and I investigate anything that comes across my path.

portrait quilt from fabric notpicture transfer 21 Feb 2008 18:04 #14038

Does anyone know of the quilter or a book from the quilter that explains how to make a quilt picture with fabric not picture transfer? My brother passed away and I want to try one for my parents. I would appreciate any help that you can give.

Thank-you

Sharon
