I just got a destiny II, am extremely happy with it. It is going to be *my* forever machine :) . Babylock offers a "love of sewing" membership that gives you access to all of their sewing instructional videos for a number of years. There are free ones that I watched before I got the machine, all of excellent quality. I've been watching the others since I have the membership now and they are also wonderful. I don't know enough about the Brother machines to say anything about them, from my understanding they are either identical or almost identical. Dealer support is so important, that if you have a dealer that you like or trust better than the other, that might sway you into that machine. As far as I know, I don't have a Brother dealer near me, and I do like and trust my Babylock dealer.

My Babylock is not temperamental, it just quietly sews what I want to without any fuss. It's easy to get a good quarter inch seam with it. I have the Bi level foot to sew on bindings by machine on kid quilts, it works great. I've been playing with the IQ designer part of the machine, it's been a lot of fun.

Good luck with your decision. Hopefully there is someone on this forum with experience with Brother machines who can offer some info for you.

Hi, I"m looking to get my 'forever' machine, I've looked at the brother and the babylock Destiny II. The dealers seem VERY sold on the Babylock and their classes/education offerings. I wonder if I would really use them enough to make up the 20% price differential they quoted. Does anyone have experience that could help me decide on the value?
Thanks! Gail Butler
