TOPIC: Singer Quantum 4 Serger

It has the manual and since she let me bring it home to try out I have seen how hard it is to thread. Even when I understand it is a difficult process. They put those little tiny holes where it is nearly impossible to reach. It does have tweezers to help though.
My husband surprised me with a new sewing machine which was very sweet but not the one I wanted. they do have good intentions... :P

Make sure it comes with a manual, because you might have to pay at least $15-20 just for a manual. You'll need a manual if you are not experienced in using a serger. Also, make certain that it is not too difficult to thread. My dear hubby surprised me with a Kenmore serger years ago. I love it, but it is very difficult to thread when a thread breaks.

I'm not sure, Karen. Does anyone here have one of these machines? Pros? Cons???

I have a 20 year old Bernina serger that runs just fine, but I don't have any experience with the Singer sergers.

Hi Margo,
You don't think I should offer more do you? I want to be fair but I can get a new one for $189 at Walmart. If I am going to have to pay more I would rather spend my money on a newer one.

Singer Quantum 4 Serger 07 Oct 2011 10:45 #70073

I have an opportunity to buy an older Singer Quantum 4 Serger. I wrote Singer and they say it was manufactured between 1993-1996.
It works great. I have to here to try out. It was pretty dusty but looks great cleaned up. I offered $50 and am waiting on the answer.
Anyone have an idea of what it is worth?
