TOPIC: Janome Platinum

I have this machine and LOVE it! It's the perfect companion to my big Janome 11000. The MC11000 is just too heavy to take to class or on trips, but the Janome Gem 760 Platinum is PERFECT! And it's a "sewing fool" too - runs great! :D

Donna, I got a Platinum 760 this week as well. I love it! I just got the 1/4 foot and the applique foot and a case. I have another Janome walking foot that I can use with it. I have made several appliqued blocks this week and it has worked like a charm!

Platinum 19 Jul 2007 15:42 #6495

I just wanted to thank you all for helping me with my purchase. I got my Platinum and I just love it. I got the table and quilting feet, Walking and quarter inch and hopping feet. It really works quiet and smoothly. I love the way it packs up quickly at classes and it is light weight, so I can carry fabric and other tools with me in the same case. The case I bough for my standard size machine. It can sit in y sewing room while the Platinum is in the case redy to go.

:D I have the janome platinum and I love it. I usually take it to quilt ins; retreats; workshops; it;s very light (11 lbs) and easy to use.
When I bought my machine, it came with ALL the feet.
I love the needle down - that's why I upgraded to the platinum.

I even made a pocketbook with the platinum and it handled beautifully.
I highly recommend it.

I also have the Janome 6600 and the 10000 (which I use for embroidery only) :)

I noticed this week that Ken's Sewing Center sells the Janome Jem quilting kits. There isn't a price listed on the website, but when you buy it with a machine, the additional cost is only about $50. It seems like a great deal to me!

Platinum assessories 22 Feb 2007 18:35 #1301

I love my machine but Janome was pretty skimpy with the assessories. If I remember correctly, the machine came with just 2 basic feet for general sewing. I bought a quilting attachment set which included a really wonderful walking foot and a quarter inch seam foot. I'm new to quilting but those 2 feet have helped me tremendously. I also bought a zipper foot and a ton of extra bobbins. Besides the quilting attachment set, another "must have" for me was the extension table. The table is very durable. My 30 lb. toddler climbed up on it and the extension table held up beautifully.

What accessories did you get with the machine? What do you suggest as a "got to have" accessory that didn't come with the machine?

I love it! 30 Jan 2007 18:55 #129

I bought a Janome Platinum this past summer to replace my main machine. I have it used to make small quilts and clothes for my kids. I have only taken it to class one time but it travels very well. It's extremely light weight and easy to manage. :D

I am looking to purchase a Janome Platinum. What are the opinions fro those that have this machine? I want a small machine to take to classes.
