If someone else has this problem, even after putting a new needle in with the flat side to the left and threading the needle from right to left, try checking under the throat plate.

There's a little indentation there that the finger of the bobbin case holder is supposed to sit in. If the finger isn't in that indentation, you'll get skipped stitches.

I asked this same question on Friday at Yahoo. I got a few lengthy suggestions on what the problem could be. It seemed the answer had to do with the needle as that was the last thing I worked on. Sure enough, you all hit the nail on the head. I had the needle in backwards. Problem solved, thank you.

My Singer Featherweight is skipping stitches. I have cleaned and oiled it and put in a new needle. Does anyone else have any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it?
