If you are able to try the Pfaff Creative Vision model, please do. It has lots of features that are improved over earlier Pfaff models. It also has a much wider throat too. Deb :D

My Janome is a 6600 Memory Craft.

I know you just love your hand stitching...and I think that is wonderful!!!

If you decide to invest in a sewingmachine, I really want you to go to the dealers and try out different brands...you need to find out what kind of machine YOU want

On here you will find all sorts of sewing machine lovers...Janome, Bernina, Pfaff, Husqvarna etc...but you need to fall in love with the machine that will be yours!

And while trying out different machines, enjoy your hand stitching!! I am impressed with every one who hand stitch because I know almost all my quilting will be done by machine..

I think I am looking for all the functions you mention - which Janome do you have? I didn't think I was particularly interested in sewing by machine as I have always been a hand sewer, but it is growing on me! I have noticed that a lot of the quilters machines have millions of embrodery stitches, which I probably wouldn't use, that's the only problem.

The most important is to know what YOU need! You have a sewingmachine...what features do you miss having??..And sometimes you do not know that you have missed a setain feature untill you have it

I could not do without the needlethreader, kneelifter, different blanket stitches, adjustable speed, needle down option, built in upper feed dog, beside its abillity to do free motion.

When you know what you want your machine to do for you remember you need to find a machine that do a bit more than you want because you will find that your needs will change.

My best advice will be to go and try out different brands, and buy what you feel comfortable with :D
