Awww, Aileen, I'm sorry! I'm fairly sure I'd go nuts too! How about some hand embroidery, crewel work or beading to pass the time?

So its April and I was not able to make a AAQI quilt this month. I had cervical spine surgery last week. The doctor said no sew. I thought he was crazy. I was the crazy one, even trying to sew. OUCH. I purchased quilt #8808 instead called Still Working At It. It is very cute and can't wait to receive it.

Back in the sewing saddle as soon as dear doc gives the word.

You know you love quilting when the thought of someone else saying you can't is crazy. Heal well Aileen. There are many quilts in your future. In the meantime, you could do other quilty things like designing up the next few projects, catch up on some quiltshow shows, read some quilt magazines. Do our minds ever really stop quilting even when we are not doing it physically. Take care of you.

Here is a picture of her new quilt. #8808 Still Working At It. It's really cute!

Aileen so sorry to hear you had such major surgery and I hope that you recover very quickly. Although it does take about a month for the effects of a general anaesthetic to wear off in my opinion. And that's quite apart from what you have had done. Please take care of yourself and don't do anything too strenuous. I love the little quilt you have bought. It is such a cute one. What a good person you are. Take care of yourself. :D

I bought a quilt. Couldn't resist. I love daisies and they remind me of two people I love very much and miss.

I hate binding too! But when I do it on a Priority Quilt I use the regular 2.25 double fold and don't have any trouble with it. The hard part is that when you're binding something that small any irregularity or lumpy turn shows so much more obviously. It's super important to get your 90 degree angles just right - both the trimming of the quilt and the mitered corners - which, of course, is the hardest part of binding. I tend to do a satin stitch or a fused binding whenever I think I can get away with it!

They look fabulous.

Binding is always tricky and not one of my favorite things to do. I also do a 2 1/4, but I might have to check out this single binding for the AAQI quilts. Hummm.

Clara

We are up to 21 quilts!!!!!!!

They are lovely Maryjo. I was having trouble with my binding too so I started a new thread to see if anybody had useful info on binding - and of course they did. For these little quilts I started doing my standard 2 1/4" folded binding but I now do a 1 1/2" single binding as that is less bulky. Here's a link to that thread:

Just mailed my 1st two AAQI little quilts to Diane. The were fun to do but working small is challenging. I will do some more soon. How wide do you cut your bindiung for these quilt?. I did the best I could but am not overly proud of the binding. This is a great way to try new techniques and have AAQI benefit from your work. :) Quilt # 10070 and # 10071

I was just scrolling through the AAQI priority quilts for sale and noticed a few John Flynn quilts for sale there. Also, Susan Cleveland's lovely daisy quilt is up for auction this month and bidding ends today. There are some lovely quilts in the auction this month. Just thought I would mention it. G'night now. :D
