I plan on using my stash for the houses but am going shopping for background fabric. I noticed the example has the background fabric for the wedges (with the houses) as well as for the border. If I only use the background for the wedges with the houses (not the border) do you know how much fabric I might need? Thanks!

Well that’s what I thought too - got 4 fat quarters of 4 different values of each color. Hope that works I didn’t see anywhere that I would need the WOF. It wouldn’t probably be so much of an issue if I could get to my stash - but we are in transition right now while our house is remodeled -so all my stash is packed away - had to go shopping- Oh darn!

I would like mine to reflect a color wheel. I have worked out that is in 8 sections -4 houses in each. So if I use an 8 color color wheel and make one house in each color I should be ok. My question is how much fabric will I need - and there are other pieces- like windows, doors, and roofs. I think I can use scraps of other fabrics for windows and doors, but I want to make all the roofs shades of gray. How much fabric will I need of the 8 colors and the gray?

Ervinja, You got me thinking!! How does she easily figure this out??? I went to my EQ8 software and drew a block that was filled with 3.5 inch squares (the size needed for the
roof. If you have a piece of gray fabric that is 25 wide by 18 long you could get 35 pieces cut at 3.5 inches square. That would give you a couple extra. 22 by 18 is a fat quarter
so you would need a little more than a fat quarter, Why not just get 1/4 yard and you can use the scraps for other things. HelenW

Ervinja, Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but it should get you started. The pattern has 21 (1/3 yard colors). You just want to use 8 colors. I drew a diagram of how is see
it. Not sure is my logic is correct but here it is. Buy 1 yard of the 8 colors. And buy 1/4 yard for roofs. You only need a little more than a fat quarter for the roofs, but I don't think
they will you pieces by exact inches you need. More is always better. There is always another project in the future you can use it for. HelenW
