I’m so excited to begin making this spectacular quilt!!! I have been thinking about fabric choices and wondered if dupioni silk, stabilized properly, would be an option to mix with the shott cottons for some of the buildings? I have some lovely, jewel tone silk dupioni samples that are about 4 inches x 7 inches and wanted to use them for a special project.

I think that would work well. The freezer paper will serve as a stabilizer. I would use no more than one silk piece in any one building, just so it gives a lovely sheen to the building.

Set Notification for The Quilt Show on Facebook so you get a pop-up notification when there is a Live session. There should also be a post tonight to announce it is happening tomorrow 10 am PST.

It is expected to be 4-6 weeks from now--the background fabric is being reprinted.

Go to the store and click on the "email me when back in stock" button for the Kit you want--that will NOT place an order for you it will let you know as soon as it is back in stock so you can jump on it and place an order then.

I am an advance beginner quilter who has sewn many things for years. How difficult do you think the Color my world BOM will be? I am all in to be part of this BOM.

You have the first requirement: desire. As with most of the Block of the Month quilts we offer, it is not a zippy, throw it together quilt. It will take accurate 1/4” piecing when joining the various houses/buildings together.

Those not familiar with paper piecing will learn a new skill. Those who have not used freezer paper for foundation piecing, will learn a new skill.

The number one reason to make this quilt is because you love it and want to own one. Slow, steady and careful will get the job done.

Mixing fabrics will not be a problem. Batiks will work beautifully with shot cottons. The freezer paper foundations add stability as you piece the units..
