"Afternoon Delight" was one of Sue Garman's favorite patterns. This wonderfully scrappy quilt is truly a delight to make with its combination of simple appliqué and Double Nine-Patch blocks and modified Shoo Fly blocks. Each month you will work on pieced and appliquéd blocks, and in the final month, you will assemble the blocks and add the outer border. The finished quilt measures approximately 86 1/2" inches square.

Let's use this Topic "Afernoon Delight Show and Tell" as a place to show off your beautiful blocks. That way, you know where to come to see what everyone is doing.

The topics that apply to each month are a good place to ask questions or make suggestions for each block.

AND when you post your photos to Social Media, like Instagram, Facebook, etc., use either of these hash tags so everyone there will be able to find our wonderful work:

I love your blocks, Sandy. What a good idea to outline them like you have done. Keep sharing. Ginny

Sandy,
The method you have come up with sounds good. I will have to try it too.

Sandytn, I love the way your outline stitching with the black gives all your appliqué blocks a unifying feel. The wash away sheets are stiff enough
that finger pressing the edges would be a good technique to use with your needle turn. Thanks for sharing your tips. HelenW

I have finished my February applique blocks but only have picture of three. I completed the fourth one last night but still need to do my outline stitching. I still have one from January to make and I will be up-to-date.

I think I have finally settled on a method. I am printing my pattern on Wash-Away Applique Sheets and instead of using glue or starch, I’m finger pressing the edges under using the applique sheets as a guide and doing needle turn.
