"Afternoon Delight" was one of Sue Garman's favorite patterns. This wonderfully scrappy quilt is truly a delight to make with its combination of simple appliqué and Double Nine-Patch blocks and modified Shoo Fly blocks. Each month you will work on pieced and appliquéd blocks, and in the final month, you will assemble the blocks and add the outer border. The finished quilt measures approximately 86 1/2" inches square.

Let's use this Topic "Afernoon Delight Show and Tell" as a place to show off your beautiful blocks. That way, you know where to come to see what everyone is doing.

The topics that apply to each month are a good place to ask questions or make suggestions for each block.

AND when you post your photos to Social Media, like Instagram, Facebook, etc., use either of these hash tags so everyone there will be able to find our wonderful work:

Marie,
It is ALWAYS better to download the PDF file to your computer, and open it from there, before you print, than to try to print from the file while on the internet. For some reason, PDF files do not print accurately when you open it online and print from your web browser. I haven't had any issues with sizing, if I download the file first, then open it on my computer, then select print.
It is always best to check one page to make sure it is accurate, before printing a number of pages. But in most printer settings, you can select the pages you want to print, so you don't have to print your test page again, if it printed at the correct size. I have never had any issues with getting the accurate size, as long as I download the file and open it on my computer first. Also, make sure you have "Actual Size" selected in your printer settings as Helen suggested.

Maureen, Helen answered you correctly. The box measures 6.75”.

Here is a topic that addressed printing issues:

Marie, I just print out the first pattern of the month I am doing and use my ruler to measure it. If the outline of the applique block measures the finished size of 6 3/4 inches to be cut
at 7 1/4 inches you are good to go. Since these appliques do not fill the entire block and you are going to have to cut to the 7 1/4 size, it would not matter if the applique
was a fraction bigger or smaller than the original. What kind of printer do you have? I have an HP and if I go to the gear icon it brings up settings. I scroll down to resize and look to make sure it is set to actual size. In that same area I can adjust the size under custom size if I need to. Let us know if you work it out. HelenW

Question on sizing 01 Mar 2020 16:37 #147183

Am downloading the new quilt but wonder if the block pattern is correct when it’s printed out, another time did some blocks but they did not come out the right size, most of the pages gave an inch square to tell you when it’s right size, after printing, this quilt does not have it. So how do you work out how to do this have not done this for years 5, so am starting again, does anyone know, please let me know thanks Maureen
