It's important to know how the border fabric was cut for the Afternoon Delight Kit--if you ordered one of the three border Kits.
Total yardage for the border fabric is 4 yards. It was cut in two sections--3.25 yard is for the borders, both the perimeter triangles and the outside borders. The remaining 3/4 yard is for the binding. NOTE: the Red and Blue border Kits include one yard of Black Dimples fabric for the narrow floater borders between the two print borders--it is not used in the blocks, it is just for the narrow borders.
Sue's pattern called for 3.25 yard total but I thought it best to have a dedicated amount for binding, from the same bolt of fabric. The company asked to make the two cuts to minimize leftover fabric cuts from the standard 15 yard bolts.
None of the border fabric was intended to be used in any of the blocks--none of my blue border is in my blocks. If you really want the border fabric in the blocks, you have about a half yard to play with, either use some of the binding 3/4 yard or cut 1/2 yard from the long piece. Just be sure you save at least 90" of the long piece, at a minimum, for the borders.
It would have been helpful to have this information packed with the Kit. I'm sorry we didn't think of that earlier.
I hope this information is helpful--we won't begin the borders until December but you want to have the border/binding fabric available when needed.
