Join us on a TQS exclusive 12-month creative journey with Becky Goldsmith as we bring you "Sizzle," a stunning quilt designed especially for TQS.

Each month we will provide photos, detailed directions for a portion of the quilt, and full-size patterns. Becky has also created a selection of "how-to" videos to guide you along the way.

Let's use this Topic "Sizzle Show and Tell" as a place to show off your beautiful Sizzle Blocks. That way, you know where to come to see what everyone is doing.
The topics that apply to each month are a good place to ask questions or make suggestions for each block.
AND when you post your photos to Social Media, like Instagram, Facebook, etc., use either of these hash tags so everyone there will be able to find our wonderful work:

Bdizzine, there will be lots of help--check the Forum 2019 BOM. I posted a new blog today and January 1 there will be a long one with many photos and tips.

Accuracy with the 1/4" when you join units together is critical in success with this project, as HelenW mentioned. The paper piecing is great for accuracy. Watch Becky's show, it airs today.

I have taught a number of beginner quilters to paper piece and all of them thought it would be too hard.
The accuracy is not a problem, if you can sew on a straight line marked for you. The only ones that had
any problems was when it came to sewing units together. If your seam allowance on that is not accurate
and you are making it a circle like in Sizzle it will not lay flat unless you are accurate putting the units together. Bet you get addicted
to paper piecing if you give it a try.

You can always start by making a table runner with 3 Sizzle circles. You can use your stash, and practice the technique.
And if you love it as much as I think you will, you will go for the whole quilt.

I haven't quilted in over 20 years, and now retired and need to start again. I was not accomplished, really only sewed squares together. I did take a couple of classes years ago. Would the BOM be a good way to start? It looks awesome in every way. I am not too accurate, though. Maybe something less adventurous? What is a good beginner quilt? There is a nearby quilt shop, but they want me to buy supplies there and I have a ton of fabric already.
