I am using the BOM fabrics from The Quilt Show. I cannot find what the color of the floater should be that is added before we add the Evening Star Blocks. Please advise.

I believe Carolyn used the Med Green, Fabric E, because she liked it better than Fabric G. You should have enough of both fabrics so just choose the one you prefer.

I am having problems with Month 3 Evening star blocks. If the center is cut 3" and finishes 2.5", how can the flying geese units be 2" x 1"?

The centers finish at 2", the Stars finish at 4" plus a 1" finished Stagger strip. The center is cut 3" for paper piecing.

Help! On BOM month 3, my block is 28 1/2 " sq, my staggered stars left and right sides are 25 1/2" length.

All papered pieced, accurate seam allowances. What have I done wrong?

Thank you, Linda

Linda, I'm sorry I don't quite understand your question. The left and right borders each have seven 4" finished staggered stars, so those borders should measure 28.5". If you haven't figured it out yet, can you give me more information?

Yes, there is a Month 3 instructional video, it was posted recently.

I cannot get the Month 3 video to play. Tried both Internet Explorer and Chrome, both do not play, although it is visible. I went to Month 2 Video and it played fine. The play button does not "light up" like the previous month's video.[/quote]

I reported it and it should be fixed soon.

I downloaded the Month Three instructions fine. Was there going to be an "Instructional Video" that goes with every month?
I saw Month One and Two but not Month Three. It didn't click into a video.

Just curious. The written instructions are so well done you don't really need it but they're kind of fun. Sue's old videos really help too.

I got frustrated paper piecing such a simple block. TOO SLOW! I'll save paper piecing for next month when there's no choice. I'm whipping out 4 accurate little geese at a time using Deb Tucker's Wing Clipper ruler. She appeared in episode 1707. Don't know for sure if she demo'd that ruler on the episode, but that episode is how I found her website in the first place.

That's why there is Chocolate AND Vanilla--use the method you prefer and can use successfully! There is a larger sawtooth border later I don't plan to paper piece. Each quilter can be successful however they choose.

I'm working on mine as well and I think you will be okay. My blocks are 4.5 x 5.5 as well. My floater ends up being .75 wide instead of the 1 inch example. However, when you add the side borders you are adding 5.25 inches, twice, so that when you add the top and bottom borders they should be close. I'm not sure my explanation makes sense, but I think you should be okay. Just use the floaters calculation template in the instructions and add the side borders first.
