Missingoxygen, I do not have a Bernina sewing machine, but I googled it, and it appears that you adjust the factory default on your zig zag stitch to get a serpentine stitch.
I took a couple screenshots for you. The video if you google it, is only a couple minutes long. Good luck. HelenW

I have a Bernina 150 Virtuosa QE, which has quite a few stitches, but not a serpentine stitch. I've seen a couple of machine quilting videos suggesting this as a more interesting but easy substitute for plain straight line stitching. Does anyone know a way to fidde with the built-in stitches to make the 150 produce a stitch similar to the serpentine? I tried lengthening the running stitch (#4) to do this, but the individual stitches are pretty big and I'm afraid they'll get pulled with using and washing the quilt.
