Massive skipping with BSR foot!!!!! 30 Oct 2015 17:01 #133980

I took my BSR back in 2009 after struggling with it for two years. They gave me a new one at no charge. I still had issues with the BSR and finally gave up on it. I think I will take it back in and see if the spring is the problem.

Thanks for the information.

I may take my BSR into my local dealer, I've only used it a couple of times and it skipped stitches. I thought the problem was me and have continued to use my 'darning' foot (not sure if that is the right word - foot 24) with no problems, for FMQ.

Interesting re your skipping problem my dealer didn't mention the spring just said he'd updated the foot. My initial problem was skipping stitches on darker fabric.

Gosh, I was in the midst of doing meandering on the border of a quilt for our little grandson, when my BSR foot started skipping about 5 stitches OFTEN!!! I tried everything--rethread, new bobbin, oil machine, new needle, checked tensions--no luck!! Then I GOOGLED the problem and found out that in 2010, Bernina found out it had a problem with the spring in the original BSR feet. They made a fix--new stronger spring. I never got that memo!!!! So, I took my BSR to our wonderful repair guy and he replaced the spring while I shopped--no charge!! It works perfectly now!!! But, dang--I had to go back over lots of skipped stitch areas--tacky, tacky, tacky!! I don't think our little grandson will notice those areas, but I sure do!!!
