I also found it works more consistently if I start to thread, then wait for the light on the machine before proceeding. Hope that makes sense. Janet

Hello there, I have a Bernina 820 and the trick is to hold the thread firmly at the spool end before it is fed through the tension discs. Feed the thread the rest of the distance as shown in your manual with your left hand.There is a long distance between the thread spool and the needle and there can be a bit of slack there in the thread. By holding the thread firmly, the slack is removed. Using this method the threader will work every time. I now work for a Bernina shop and this is a common question. I hope this advice helps you.
